While visiting Detroit on a 17 day Chrysler project for Weiden+Kennedy, Portland. Antony Goldstein shot a photo of myself, Jon Soto, lying on the street next to a steaming manhole cover. This was just for shits n’ giggles.
That was the day Horizontalizm was born.
What transpired over our remaining time in Detroit took on a life all its own.
I believe we are on the brink of something greater than ourselves.
Perhaps one day, people everywhere will commit acts of Horizontalizm and share them with tales of valor and pride
And perhaps… just perhaps, the roots of these acts will be traced back to a windy Michigan day in the March of 2011.
In the meantime…. This is where Horizontalizm began…. And this is where the Horizontalist ethos lives.
